# Add transitions between the clips in your video

## How to do it in Tella

1. Open your video in the Tella editor and open the Tella Agent.
2. Ask for smooth transitions, and name any clips that should keep a hard cut.
3. Or click Layout, then Adjust, and choose Smooth or Hard cut under Transitions.
4. To change one boundary yourself, select the later clip and set From previous clip.

## Good to know

- Needs a paid plan or the 7-day trial. Messages use your workspace's credits.
- Smooth only moves layers that are in both clips. A layer that's new in the next clip appears with a hard cut.
- Hard cut is the default, so existing videos look the same until you change it.
- Layout changes inside one clip animate on their own, at the pace set under Layout animation.

### What's the difference between Smooth and Hard cut?

Hard cut jumps straight to the next clip. Smooth starts the next clip's camera and screen at the position and size they had at the end of the previous clip, then animates them into the new layout.

### Can I use a wipe or another styled transition?

### Can Claude or ChatGPT set transitions in my Tella video?
