# Fix a mistake in your video without re-recording all of it

## How to do it in Tella

1. Open your video in the Tella editor and tell the Tella Agent what's wrong and where, or select the words in the transcript and click Add to chat.
2. If the line only needs to go, ask the agent to cut it.
3. If the step needs a new take, ask the agent to split the clip before and after it and delete the middle part.
4. Ask the agent to help you record the fix, then click Go to recorder on its card and record.
5. The new clip is added at the end of the video. Drag it into the gap, or ask the agent to move it there.

## Good to know

- Needs a paid plan or the 7-day trial. Messages use your workspace's credits.
- You can only cut words in the transcript, not reword them. Editing subtitles changes what viewers read, not what they hear.
- Re-record deletes the clip's recording and all its edits. Split first so it only replaces the broken part.

In Tella, Remove mistakes finds retakes, false starts and repeated lines you already recorded, and cuts the ones you approve. Fixing a mistake is for content that was wrong, like a wrong number or a step that broke on screen, where you cut it or record a new take of just that part.

### Can I record the fix in place instead of dragging it?

Yes. Split the clip before and after the mistake, then choose Re-record from the middle clip's ⋯ menu (or click Redo in the left toolbar). Your new recording replaces that clip in the timeline, and the clips around it keep their transcript, zooms and layouts.
