# Tella: Help Center

## Help Center

### Getting started

- [Welcome to Tella](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/introduction/welcome.md): Tella is a screen recorder and video editor: record your screen, camera, or both from the browser, Chrome extension, Mac app, or Windows app, then edit and share a link in minutes.
- [Getting started with Tella](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/introduction/getting-started.md): New accounts get a short, skippable setup: choose the videos you want to make, style your video pages (owners), record your first video, and start a seven-day Tella Pro trial (owners).
- [Video tutorials](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/introduction/tutorials.md): Many Tella help articles include a short video walkthrough. Start with these: recording on the web, Chrome, Mac, or Windows, editing, layouts, sharing, and migrating from Loom.
- [FAQ](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/introduction/faq.md): Quick answers about Tella: browser and OS requirements, the 6-hour clip and 5 GB upload limits, what happens when a subscription ends, recording modes, cameras, virtual backgrounds, and migrating from Loom.
- [Glossary](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/introduction/glossary.md): Definitions of Tella terms: clips, scenes, layouts, playlists and playlist groups, the Script and Subs panels, Studio Voice, streaming upload, workspaces, exports, timelapse, and custom domains.
- [Keyboard shortcuts](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/tips/keyboard-shortcuts.md): Press Shift + ? in the editor or on a video page to see Tella's shortcuts. Space plays and pauses, C/Y/E/V/S/A/B/O open editor tools, ⌘ + K opens the command menu, and the Mac and Windows apps let you set your own recording shortcuts.
- [Command menu](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/tips/command-menu.md): Press Cmd+K in the editor, your library, settings, or a video page to open a searchable list of actions, or choose Command menu from the ? help button.

### Record

#### Choose how you record

- [Record a video using the web app](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/recording/record-a-video-using-the-web-app.md): Click Record in Tella and choose Your browser to record your camera, microphone, and screen in the browser, as one quick video or as several clips you combine in the editor.
- [Record a video using the Chrome extension](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/recording/record-a-video-using-the-chrome-extension.md): Tella for Chrome records your screen, camera, and mic from any tab: open the extension, share a tab, window, or screen, and click record. Pause, restart, quick mode, and picture-in-picture are built in.
- [Record a video using the Mac app](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/recording/record-a-video-using-the-mac-app.md): Tella for Mac records your screen and camera in up to 4K with system audio on by default, lets you pause, pick a display, window, or area, and opens the recording in the web editor. Requires macOS 13.1 or later.
- [What are the Mac app system requirements?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/mac-app/mac-app-system-requirements.md): Tella for Mac needs macOS 13.1 (Ventura) or later on an Apple Silicon or Intel Mac, an upload speed of 2.5–5 Mbps, and 5–10 GB of free disk space.
- [Resize a window for consistent recordings](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/mac-app/resize-a-window-for-consistent-recordings.md): Snap the window you're recording to a preset size in the Tella Mac app so every clip has the same shape, and your layouts and zooms line up across takes.
- [Record with the Tella Windows app](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/recording/record-a-video-using-the-windows-app.md): Tella for Windows (Beta) records a whole display and your camera in up to 4K, with optional system audio and an editable animated cursor, then opens the video on the web to share or edit. Requires Windows 10 version 2004 or later.
- [What are the Windows app system requirements?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/windows-app/windows-app-system-requirements.md): Tella for Windows (Beta) needs Windows 10 version 2004 (build 19041) or later, including Windows 11, on an Intel, AMD, or ARM PC, plus a 2.5–5 Mbps upload speed and 5–10 GB of free disk space.
- [Can I use Tella on my phone or iPad?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/faq/use-tella-on-mobile.md): Yes, in your phone or tablet browser: there is no Tella mobile app, but you can record quick camera videos, watch and share videos, and browse your library. Editing needs a computer.
- [What are Tella's minimum requirements?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/faq/usage-requirements.md): Tella needs a 2.5–5 Mbps upload speed and a recent browser (Chrome 111, Safari 16.4, Firefox 128 or later) on Mac or Windows 10+. The editor needs Safari 26+ or a current Chrome, Edge or Brave with hardware acceleration on. The Mac app needs macOS 13.1+ and the Windows app Windows 10 version 2004+.

#### Set up your recording

- [Choose what to record](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/recording/choose-what-to-record.md): Turn your camera, microphone, and screen share on or off in the Tella recorder to record screen + camera, screen only, or camera only. Each source is captured as its own track you arrange with layouts later.
- [Allow camera, mic, and screen access in your browser](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/recording/grant-permissions-for-camera-mic-screen-on-the-web-app-and-chrome-extension.md): Tella needs camera and microphone permission before you can record in the web app or Chrome extension; screen sharing is granted by your browser and operating system. Allow them in the browser prompt, the site settings, or your system settings.
- [Test your webcam and microphone](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/recording/test-your-webcam-and-microphone.md): Tella's free webcam test at tella.com/tools/webcam-test shows your camera preview, resolution, frame rate, and microphone level in the browser. No account needed and nothing is recorded or uploaded.
- [Change your camera background](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/recording/blur-your-camera-background.md): The Tella web recorder and Chrome extension can blur your camera background or replace it with a color or image, no green screen needed. The Mac app uses macOS video effects; the Windows app and Safari have no background effects.
- [Record system audio (desktop sound)](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/record-system-audio.md): The Mac app records system audio with your screen by default, the Windows app needs System audio turned on in its settings, and the web app and Chrome extension capture a tab's sound when you tick Also share tab audio.
- [Can I record with multiple cameras?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/faq/multiple-cameras.md): No. Tella records one camera at a time, alongside your screen if you like. To show two camera angles, combine them in a virtual camera app like OBS, or record each angle as a separate clip.
- [Use your iPhone as a webcam](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/tips/use-your-i-phone-as-a-webcam.md): On a Mac, Apple's Continuity Camera lets you pick your iPhone as the camera in Tella for a much sharper picture than most built-in webcams. It needs iOS 16+ and macOS Ventura or later.
- [Insta360 Link Controller Issues](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/specific-cameras/resolving-issues-with-insta360-link-controller-on-mac.md): An Insta360 Link picture that flips vertically on Mac is fixed by turning off Portrait Resolution and High Frame Rate in the Insta360 Link Controller.
- [What audio bitrate does Tella record in?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/faq/what-audio-bitrate-do-you-record-in.md): Tella's web app and Chrome extension record audio at 128 kbps, 48 kHz, encoded with Opus or AAC depending on your browser.

#### Recording modes and clips

- [Record faster with quick mode](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/recording/record-faster-with-quick-mode.md): Quick mode skips the editor: when you stop recording, Tella opens the view page with the share link copied, and each recording becomes its own video. Turn it on from the mode button in the web recorder or Mac app, or Settings in the Chrome extension.
- [Record and add clips to a video](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/recording/use-clips.md): Clips are separately recorded takes that play in sequence in one video. Record several in a row in multiple clips mode, or click Add clip in the editor to record, upload, reuse, or restore a clip.
- [Re-record clips](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/recording/re-record-clips.md): Re-record replaces one clip with a new recording and leaves the rest of the video untouched. Click Redo in the editor's left toolbar (Cmd + Option + R) or Re-record in the clip's ⋯ menu. It deletes that clip's recording and edits.
- [Can I combine two separate recordings into one video?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/faq/combine-separate-recordings.md): Yes. Add recordings as clips to play them in sequence, or add a separate camera video over an existing recording from Overlay → Media.

#### While you record

- [Use speaker notes while recording (teleprompter)](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/recording/use-speaker-notes-while-recording.md): Read a scrolling script in the web recorder with More → Speaker notes, Tella's built-in teleprompter.
- [See yourself while recording with picture-in-picture](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/recording/see-yourself-while-recording-with-picture-in-picture.md): In the Tella Chrome extension, open … → Settings and turn on Picture-in-picture (Beta) for a floating camera preview, timer, and recording controls that stay on top while you record. Google Chrome only; not for Entire screen recordings.
- [Record a slideshow presentation](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/recording/record-slideshow-presentation.md): To record a PowerPoint, Keynote, or Google Slides presentation in Tella, share your Entire screen (not a window or tab) with your camera on, present your slides, then trim the recording to the presentation.
- [Record camera only on Mac](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/recording/record-camera-only-on-mac.md): To record only your camera in the Tella Mac app, turn the screen off so it reads Screen off, pick a microphone, click record, and choose Record anyway when Tella warns you are not recording your screen.
- [Show keys pressed in your video](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/tips/show-keys-pressed-in-your-video.md): Tella screen recordings don't show the keys you press. Run a keystroke visualizer such as Keystroke Pro alongside Tella so your keystrokes appear on screen and are captured in the recording.
- [Record an iPhone demo in Tella](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/tips/i-phone-demos-using-screen-mirroring.md): Connect your iPhone to your Mac with a cable, show it in a QuickTime New Movie Recording window, and record that window in Tella, or screen record on the phone and upload. AirPlay mirroring records as a black rectangle.
- [Share your iPad screen in a Tella video](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/tips/ipad-screen-sharing.md): Connect your iPad to your Mac with a cable, show it in a QuickTime New Movie Recording window, and record that window in Tella, or screen record on the iPad and upload. AirPlay mirroring records as a black rectangle.

### Edit

#### Editor basics

- [Edit a video](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/edit-a-video.md): Open Edit video on desktop: use Cut to trim, Effect for zooms, Layout to arrange camera and screen, Style for backgrounds, and Crop to reframe.
- [Edit with the Tella agent](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/edit-with-the-tella-agent.md): The Tella agent edits your video from a chat in the editor's sidebar: ask for cuts, layouts, zooms, subtitles and more in plain language. It's in private beta and uses Credits.
- [Edit faster with low-res mode](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/low-res-mode.md): Low-res mode makes the editor faster by playing lower-resolution copies of your video while you edit. It is on by default and never affects sharing or export quality. Toggle it with the Low-res button below the video.
- [Adjust playback speed in the editor](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/editor-playback-speed.md): The editor's speed button (1.0x by default, 0.8x to 8.0x) only changes how fast the video plays for you while editing. It does not change the video's length, the downloaded file, or what viewers see.
- [Can I hide or close the Setup sidebar in the editor?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/faq/hide-or-close-editor-sidebar.md): No. The editor's left sidebar (Setup, Layout, Cut, Effect, and the other tools) is always visible and can't be hidden, closed, or collapsed. Switch tools instead; only the right-hand Script panel can be toggled, with Shift + S.
- [Work with the multi-track timeline](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/multi-track-timeline.md): Overlapping zooms, effects, and overlays stack onto separate timeline tracks, where you can select, move, split, copy, and reorder each card.
- [Can I recover a deleted clip?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/recording/recover-a-deleted-clip.md): Yes. Removed clips only leave the timeline. Click Undo on the Clip removed toast, or use Add clip → Restore removed clip in the editor to bring one back later.
- [Create engaging video intros](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/tips/create-engaging-video-intros.md): Build a strong intro with multiple layouts in one clip: switch between full screen, a Camera Bubble, and side-by-side, or open on a punched-in camera shot and cut to your screen. Both use the Layout tool.

#### Setup

- [Edit video title](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/video-metadata/edit-video-title.md): Rename a Tella video by clicking its title on the view page, choosing Rename in the video title menu, or editing Title in the editor's Setup panel. Tella auto-generates titles with AI; turn that off in Settings → Preferences.
- [Change canvas size](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/change-canvas-size.md): Change your video's aspect ratio from the canvas size menu below the video, under Layout, or in Setup → Size. Choose Auto, 16:9, 16:10, 4:3, 1:1, 4:5, 9:16, or a Social media preset such as TikTok or LinkedIn post.
- [Preview social safe zones](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/social-safe-zones.md): Preview social safe zones on a 9:16 video in Setup or Layout → Adjust to keep content clear of platform UI. The overlay is never exported.
- [Choose how clips transition](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/clip-transitions.md): Choose Smooth or Hard cut under Layout → Adjust → Transitions → Between clips, or override one clip with From previous clip.
- [Add chapters](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/chapters.md): Chapters are timecoded sections with titles and descriptions that viewers can jump between. Tella generates them from your transcript with AI; open Chapters from Setup or the video title menu to generate, edit, or copy them.
- [Copy chapters for YouTube](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/export-videos/youtube-chapters.md): Copy for YouTube, in the More (⋯) menu of the editor's Chapters panel, copies your chapters as timestamp-and-title lines without dashes, starting at 00:00, ready to paste into a YouTube description.
- [Retranscribe a video](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/retranscribe-a-video.md): Retranscribe a video by choosing the spoken language under Transcript language (in Setup, or the Script panel's More actions menu) and clicking Update. Use it when the wrong language was detected; it does not translate.

#### Cut

- [Cut and split clips](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/trim-and-split-clips.md): Click Cut in the editor's left toolbar (or press C) to trim a clip's start or end, drag across a range and press Delete to remove it, or press X to split at the playhead. Cuts are non-destructive and can be undone.
- [Remove silences](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/remove-silences-automatically.md): Open Cut, choose Natural, Fast, or Faster under Silences, and click Remove N silences to cut pauses automatically. A pause only counts as silence when every unmuted audio track is quiet.
- [Replace a section of your video](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/replace-a-section-of-your-video.md): To replace the middle of a clip, split it at the playhead and drop the new clip between the two halves. Dragging a clip onto another only reorders whole clips.
- [Remix & reuse videos and clips](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/remix-and-reuse-videos-and-clips.md): Reuse any Tella clip: Add clip → Select from existing adds it to another video's timeline, the clip's ⋯ menu offers Duplicate, Copy to existing video, and Copy to new video, and Add clip to media library saves it as B-roll.

#### Layout

- [Choose a layout](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/use-layouts.md): A layout is where your camera and screen sit on the canvas. Pick one under Layout in the editor sidebar; the presets depend on what the clip contains. Right-click a gap in the layout timeline and choose Apply to all clips to use one layout everywhere.
- [Remove your camera background with Cut out](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/cut-out-camera-background.md): Cut out removes the background from camera recordings or uploaded footage of a person. Use Layout or the Cut-out controls in Customize layout.
- [Use the Blob camera style](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/use-blob-camera-style.md): Choose Blob under Camera style in Customize layout for a camera frame that wobbles and expands toward your gestures, with an optional outline.
- [Use multiple layouts in one clip](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/use-multi-layouts.md): Multiple layouts let one clip switch layouts over time, for example hiding your camera or going screen-only for a section. Click Layout, drag across the time range, and choose a preset; the rest of the clip keeps its base layout.
- [Save custom layouts](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/custom-layouts.md): A custom layout is a preset you've rearranged and saved with Save as favorite in Customize layout. It appears in the Favorites tab of the Layout picker, so the same arrangement is one click away in every video.
- [Create a pop-out camera effect](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/create-a-pop-out-camera-effect.md): Pop-out cuts you out of your camera and places you in front of a shaped camera frame for depth. Turn on Pop-out in a framed camera layout such as Camera Bubble, then set its amount and outline in Customize layout.
- [Add media (B-roll)](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/use-media.md): Add B-roll by choosing a Media layout under Layout, or by setting a slot's Source to Media in Customize layout. Upload an image or video, pick from the Media Library, or generate an image with AI. Your voice keeps playing.
- [Capture websites and social posts](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/capture-websites-and-social-posts.md): Paste a public web page or X, Instagram, LinkedIn, or TikTok post link into Screenshots in the Media Library, and Tella captures it as an image or scrolling-page video for a layout or overlay.
- [Generate auto layouts](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/use-auto-layouts.md): Auto Layouts, in the editor's Layout panel, analyzes a clip's transcript and video and adds a sequence of layouts in your chosen style (Auto, Demo, Tutorial, Presentation, or Intro & Outro). Clips must be under 20 minutes.
- [Punch in (zoom in) on your camera](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/tips/punch-in-zoom-in-on-your-camera.md): A punch-in makes your camera fill more of the frame for a moment. In Tella it is a Layout option, not a zoom in the Effect tool.

#### Effect

- [Add zooms and screen effects](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/add-a-zoom.md): Add zooms in the editor's Effect tool (press E): select a range and click Add zoom, or click Generate to create zooms from recorded cursor movement. Zooms work on footage in a layout's Screen slot.
- [Change layout and zoom animation styles](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/animation-style.md): Choose separate animation styles for layout transitions and zooms in the editor, from Gentlest to Snappiest. Zoom styles can apply to a whole video or one clip.
- [Where did the Zoom tool go?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/faq/where-is-the-zoom-tool.md): The Zoom tool is now called Effect. Click Effect in the editor sidebar, or press E, for zooms, cursor settings, blurs, and highlights on one timeline. Nothing was removed.
- [Customize the animated cursor](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/customize-animated-cursor.md): Restyle, resize, smooth, and add click effects to the pointer in Effect → Cursor. Available for Mac and Windows app recordings made with the Animated or Hidden cursor, not System, web, or Chrome extension recordings.
- [Add motion blur to screen recordings](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/add-motion-blur.md): Motion blur softens fast zooms, pans, and animated cursor movement. Turn it on in Effect → Zooms → Advanced zoom settings and drag from Subtle to Strong.
- [Shrink the camera during zooms](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/shrink-camera-during-zooms.md): Turn on Shrink camera during zooms in Effect → Zooms → Advanced zoom settings to make the camera bubble smaller while the screen is zoomed in.
- [Blur or highlight part of your video](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/blurring-and-highlighting.md): Blur hides sensitive details and highlight dims everything except one area. Add both from Effect → Blur & highlight; they work on footage in a layout's Screen slot, not on your camera.

#### Overlay

- [Overlays overview](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/overlays.md): Open Overlay in the editor sidebar (press V) to layer media, text, stickers, and sound effects on top of your recording without replacing it, then time them on one shared timeline.
- [Add media overlays](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/media-overlays.md): Add an image or video on top of your recording from the Media section of Overlay, or drop a file onto the timeline. Position, resize, rotate, time, trim, and fade it.
- [Add stickers and animated stickers](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/animated-stickers.md): Add stickers, GIFs, memes, company logos, and animated stickers from Overlay → Stickers, create an animated sticker with AI, or upload a Lottie file up to 2 MB.
- [Add text to your video](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/text-overlays.md): Add editable text from Overlay, then customize its font, color, outline, shadow, background, timing, and fade.
- [Put overlays behind the presenter](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/overlays-behind-the-presenter.md): Set an overlay's Depth to Behind presenter and Tella cuts you out of your camera so text, media, or stickers sit behind you. Only on clips with a camera recording; sound effects have no depth.
- [Add sound effects](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/sound-effects.md): Add built-in or uploaded sound effects from the Sounds section of Overlay. They mix on top of your voiceover, and each has its own volume from 0 to 200%.

#### Style

- [Change the background](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/pick-a-background.md): Pick a color, gradient, image, or animated background under Background in the editor's Style panel (press B). It applies to every clip unless you choose Apply to this clip only.
- [Can I blur my camera background after recording?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/faq/blur-camera-background-after-recording.md): Yes: in the editor, open Style (press B) and set Camera background to Blur, or to Color for a solid fill. It applies per clip and keeps your camera frame. You can also blur while recording in the web app, Chrome extension, or with macOS Portrait in the Mac app.
- [Blur or replace your camera background after recording](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/change-camera-background-after-recording.md): In the editor, open Style (press B) and set Camera background to Blur or Color to blur or fill the room behind you in a recorded clip. Your camera keeps its frame, border and shadow. It applies per clip.
- [Add a border or shadow](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/use-borders.md): Choose a border or shadow and a corner shape under Border style and Shape in the editor's Style panel (press O). Snake adds an animated streak around your camera frame.
- [Adjust your video's colors with filters](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/color-filters.md): Change the colors of your camera, screen recording, or media under Filters in the editor's Style panel: apply a preset, adjust exposure, contrast, saturation, temperature, and tint, or upload a .cube LUT.
- [Add your logo to videos](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/add-your-logo-to-videos.md): Upload a PNG, JPG, or WEBP logo under Logo on video in the editor's Style panel. It appears in a corner of every clip; you can move, resize, hide it on one clip, or remove it.

#### Subs

- [Edit with the transcript](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/edit-the-transcript-of-a-tella-video.md): Select words in the Script panel (Shift + S) to cut them from the video, keep only a section, or copy it to a new clip or video. The transcript can't be reworded; edit subtitles to change on-screen text.
- [Style subtitles](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/style-subtitles.md): Turn on subtitles and pick a style in Subs (press S), then use Edit style to change size, position, lines, font, colors, background, outline, shadow, and active-word highlighting. Save styles as presets.
- [Show one word at a time in captions](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/show-one-word-at-a-time-in-captions.md): Turn on Single-word captions under Active word in the subtitle Edit style panel to show only the word being spoken instead of multi-word lines.
- [Find & replace subtitles](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/find-replace-subtitles.md): In Subs, click Edit subtitles, then the Find and replace icon in the Subtitles panel to replace every occurrence of a word in your subtitles at once.
- [Create your custom transcript dictionary](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/create-your-custom-transcript-dictionary.md): Add names, brands, and product terms to your Dictionary (Script panel → More actions, or Settings → Language) so Tella transcribes them correctly. Works for English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, and Italian.
- [Translate subtitles into another language](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/translate-subtitles.md): Translate subtitles from the Subtitle language menu in the editor's Subtitles panel: choose Add translation. Paid plans only, up to 10 languages per video; viewers pick a language on your shared video.

#### Audio

- [Add background music to your video](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/add-background-music-to-your-video.md): Add background music in the editor's Audio panel from Tella's music library or upload your own track. One track plays under the whole video, loops if shorter, fades in and out, and never replaces your voiceover.
- [Adjust audio levels](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/adjust-audio-levels.md): Use Audio levels in the editor's Audio panel: Master volume for mic and system audio together, Advanced audio settings for each source, and Adjust this clip only for a single clip.
- [Studio Voice (audio enhancement)](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/studio-voice-audio-enhancement.md): Choose Low or High under Studio Voice in the editor's Audio panel to enhance your voice across the video, or Off to use your original audio.

#### Layout → Adjust

- [Crop screen recordings](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/crop-screen-recordings.md): Use Crop → Adjust screen or Layout → Adjust to crop a screen recording for one layout, a clip, or every clip without changing the original.
- [Adjust your camera frame](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/adjust-your-camera-frame.md): Use Crop → Adjust camera to crop your camera and set its focus point, or open the Camera crop thumbnail in Layout → Adjust (press A).
- [Mirror (or flip) your camera](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/mirror-or-flip-your-camera.md): Flip your camera with Mirror camera in Layout → Adjust, or right-click it and choose Flip horizontally. Mirroring applies per clip.
- [Turn on eye contact](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/editing/eye-contact.md): Turn on Eye contact in Layout → Adjust to redirect your gaze toward the camera across your video, including playback and exports.

### Share and embed

#### Share a video

- [Share and download your video](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/sharing/share-and-download-a-video.md): Download your finished video from the editor’s Download menu, or use Share to copy a link or get an embed code.
- [Collect viewer emails with a gate](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/sharing/collect-viewer-emails.md): Share → Gate → Collect emails makes viewers enter their email before a video or playlist plays. Optionally verify emails with a code, then copy them or download a CSV.
- [Add a team member to your video](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/teams/how-can-i-add-a-team-member-as-an-editor-of-your-video.md): Give a teammate editing access in Share: add them under Invite people, then choose Can edit under Who has access.
- [Video analytics](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/sharing/analytics.md): Tella analytics shows views, unique viewers, watch time, engagement, traffic sources, and locations for each video, playlist, and your workspace. Detailed analytics start from January 30, 2026.

#### Publish

- [Publish a video to social media](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/sharing/publish-to-social-media.md): Post a Tella video straight to YouTube, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook from Share → Publish, to several platforms at once, without downloading and re-uploading it.
- [Publish to YouTube and YouTube Shorts](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/sharing/publish-to-youtube.md): Upload a Tella video to your YouTube channel from Share → Publish, with its title, description, chapters, privacy, and your transcript as a caption track. Vertical or square videos up to 3 minutes can go out as Shorts.

- [Publish to TikTok](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/sharing/publish-to-tiktok.md): Post a Tella video straight to your TikTok account from Share → Publish: choose who can see it, whether people can comment, duet and stitch, and disclose branded content. TikTok posting is only available in the Tella app, not the API or MCP.
- [Publish to Instagram and Facebook](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/sharing/publish-to-instagram-and-facebook.md): Post a Tella video as an Instagram post, reel, trial reel or story, or as a Facebook Page post or story, from Share → Publish. Both go through one Facebook connection and need a Facebook Page; Instagram also needs a professional account linked to it.
- [Video requirements for each social platform](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/sharing/social-publishing-requirements.md): The length, shape, size and audience limits Tella checks before publishing to YouTube, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, and what each platform does with your title and description.
- [Why did my video fail to publish?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/sharing/social-publishing-failed.md): Most failed social publishes come from an expired connection, a video the platform won't take (length, shape, size or 4K on Instagram), a missing Facebook Page or Instagram professional account, or a publish already running. Fix the cause shown and click Publish again.

#### Playlists

- [Organize and share videos with playlists](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/tips/organize-and-share-videos-with-playlists.md): A playlist groups related videos under one shareable link. Create one with the + next to Playlists in the sidebar; a video can be in several playlists at once.
- [Organize your playlists](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/sharing/organize-your-playlists.md): Drag playlists to reorder them in the sidebar, sort a playlist's videos by custom order, date, or title, set grid or list view, and autoplay videos in sequence.
- [Organize playlists with groups](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/sharing/organize-playlists-with-groups.md): Playlist groups are collapsible sections of playlists in the Tella sidebar. Click + next to Playlists and choose New group; viewers never see your groups.

- [Adjust viewer playback speed](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/sharing/adjust-viewer-playback-speed.md): Set the speed a shared video starts at in Share → Viewer settings → Default playback speed (0.5x to 2.5x). Viewers can still change speed in the desktop player.
- [Change video playback quality](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/sharing/change-playback-quality.md): Choose Auto, HD, or 4K in the video player's Quality menu; 4K playback requires a Premium video with a recording larger than its canvas.
- [Does Tella add branding or a watermark to my videos?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/faq/tella-branding-on-videos.md): Tella never puts its logo or a watermark on your videos. Exported files are always clean, and paid plans hide Tella branding on the view page too.

#### Download and export

- [Export clips separately](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/export-videos/export-separate-clips.md): In Download, set File type to Separate clips (.zip) to get each clip of your Tella video, or just the clips you pick, as its own edited MP4 in a zip.
- [Export raw camera and screen recordings](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/export-videos/export-raw-recordings.md): Download the raw video and audio files behind your video, either as camera and screen recordings with your timeline cuts applied, or every clip untouched.
- [Download your video sped up or slowed down](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/export-videos/change-export-speed.md): Speed up or slow down the MP4 you download. Export a faster-than-1x version of your video without editing.

- [Export a timelapse video](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/export-videos/timelapse-video.md): Turn a Tella video into a 30-second, 1-minute, 2-minute, or 5-minute timelapse; Tella picks the speed to fit. Requires a paid plan.

- [Compress videos for Discord and email](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/tips/compress-videos-for-discord-and-email.md): Compress a video to fit Discord or email attachment limits privately in your browser with Tella's free tools.
- [Export or download fails, errors out, or gets stuck](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/export-videos/export-or-download-fails-or-stuck.md): If a Tella export fails or sticks at a percentage, check the video still has content, let new media finish processing, make a small edit to re-render, and retry one download at a time.

#### Embed

- [Customize embed settings](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/sharing/customize-embed-settings.md): Share → Embed lets you customize your video player or choose a lightweight thumbnail embed that keeps your website fast.

- [Embed Tella videos in Mintlify](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/embed-videos/embed-tella-videos-in-mintlify.md): Mintlify docs are MDX, so a Tella video embeds with the iframe code from the video's Share → Embed tab. Good for walkthroughs and feature explainers.
- [Embed Tella videos in Linear](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/integrations/embed-tella-videos-in-linear.md): Tella links unfurl automatically in Linear issues, comments, and documents. Here is how it works.

- [Delete a video](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/account/delete-a-video.md): Choose Delete from the video's ⋯ menu or its name menu. The video moves to the Trash for 30 days before it's permanently deleted; only the creator can delete a video.

#### Audio and camera problems

- [Why do I see the 'no sound' warning?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/why-do-i-see-the-no-sound-warning.md): Tella warns you when it hears almost no sound from your microphone for about 5 seconds. Check that your mic isn't muted, is connected, and is the one selected in Tella.
- [Fix pops and loud noises in your audio](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/my-video-has-audio-issues-big-noises-or-pops.md): Popping, crackling, or loud noises in a Tella video are fixed by re-rendering it. Pops that only happen in the editor on Windows are fixed by Low-res mode.
- [Audio and video are out of sync](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/audio-and-video-out-of-sync.md): Audio drifts out of sync when your mic and camera deliver at different speeds. Tella has no in-editor resync, so fix the offset before recording: the Mac app has a per-mic Delay audio setting (XLR mics usually need about 100 ms), then re-record.
- [Fix audio sync for XLR microphones](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/fix-audio-sync-for-xlr-microphones.md): XLR microphones deliver audio about 100 ms ahead of your camera. In the Tella Mac app, turn on Delay audio for that mic; in the browser, add the delay with Rogue Amoeba's Audio Hijack and Loopback.
- [Debug camera and microphone issues](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/support/debug-camera-and-microphone-issues.md): Most Tella camera and mic problems come down to the wrong device being selected, a missing permission, or another app holding the device. Check those first, then external-camera settings like clean HDMI output.

#### Recording and upload problems

- [iPhone not connecting to Tella](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/iphone-not-connecting-to-tella.md): If your iPhone doesn't show up as a camera in Tella, restart your Mac and iPhone. Tella uses Apple's Continuity Camera, which needs the same Apple ID, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on, macOS 13+, and iOS 16+.
- [Not enough browser storage to record](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/not-enough-storage-to-record.md): Tella needs at least 2 GB of free browser storage to start recording, and your browser can run out even when your disk has space. Restart Chrome first; for the web recorder, clear tella.tv site data once uploads finish.
- [Browser storage isn't working](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/browser-storage-not-working.md): Tella stops a recording when your browser can't write to its local storage, even with free disk space. Restart the browser, then clear tella.tv site data after uploads finish, or try a new browser profile.
- [Recover a cancelled or errored recording](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/recording/recover-a-cancelled-recording.md): A recording that was cancelled, crashed, or errored before saving can usually still be recovered by Tella support. Don't delete it, don't clear browser site data, keep the desktop app installed, and contact support quickly.
- [Where is the video I just recorded?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/cant-find-my-recording.md): A finished recording appears in My videos of the workspace that was active when you recorded, once its upload completes. If it isn't there, check your other workspaces, the Trash, and whether the recorder is still open and uploading.
- [Why is my video taking so long to upload?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/why-is-my-video-taking-so-long-to-upload.md): Tella uploads while you record, so a slow upload is usually your upload bandwidth or a recorder that was closed too early. Keep the recorder open, and never delete a recording stuck at a percentage: it can almost always be recovered.

#### Mac app

- [Can't record on Mac? Check your permissions](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/mac-app/cant-record-on-mac-check-screen-camera-and-mic-permissions.md): The Tella Mac app can't record until macOS grants it Camera, Microphone, and Screen Recording permissions. Grant them from the app's First, permissions. screen or in System Settings → Privacy & Security, then reopen Tella.
- [Why do I see the low disk space warning on the Mac app?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/mac-app/mac-app-low-disk-space-warning.md): The Tella Mac app saves recordings on your Mac before uploading them, so it warns when disk space is low: it won't start with less than 512 MB free and stops safely below 256 MB. Keep 5–10 GB free.
- [Why can't I edit my Mac app recording?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/cant-edit-video-recorded-with-mac-app.md): If a Mac app recording won't open for editing, your Mac app and browser are usually signed in to different Tella accounts. Compare the two email addresses and sign in to the browser with the Mac app's one.

#### Windows app

- [Can't record on Windows? Check your permissions](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/windows-app/cant-record-on-windows-check-camera-mic-permissions.md): Most Tella Windows app recording errors, including 'Failed to start camera: Access is denied', come from Windows privacy settings. Turn on camera and microphone access and 'Let desktop apps access' for both, then reopen Tella.
- [Low disk space in the Windows app](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/windows-app/windows-app-low-disk-space-warning.md): Tella for Windows saves recordings on your PC before uploading them: it won't start with less than 512 MB free and stops safely below 256 MB, keeping what you recorded. Keep 5–10 GB free.
- [Get logs from the Windows app](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/windows-app/get-logs-from-the-windows-app.md): Open the ☰ menu in the Tella Windows app and click Show Logs to open %LOCALAPPDATA%\Tella\logs, then zip the log file for the day of the problem and send it to support.

#### Editing and playback

- [Video slow to load or blank in the editor?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/video-slow-to-load-editor.md): Use Low-res mode for a slow editor. For preview errors, update your browser or enable hardware acceleration, then click Try again.
- [Fix “Hardware acceleration isn’t available” in the editor](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/hardware-acceleration-isnt-available.md): The editor needs your browser’s graphics acceleration. Turn on “Use graphics acceleration when available” in your browser’s System settings, relaunch, then click Try again.
- [Fix “Update your browser to use the editor”](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/update-your-browser-to-use-the-editor.md): Your browser is too old for the editor’s graphics. Update Safari to version 26 or later, update your browser, or open the video in the latest Chrome.
- [Fix “Your video preview stopped working” in the editor](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/video-preview-stopped-working.md): Your browser lost its connection to your computer’s graphics. Click Try again; if it keeps happening, close graphics-heavy tabs and apps, restart the browser, update graphics drivers, and turn on Low-res mode.
- [Fix “We couldn’t load your video preview” in the editor](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/couldnt-load-video-preview.md): The editor couldn’t download or start its preview, usually because of a network hiccup or a tab left open across a Tella update. Click Try again or Reload; your video and edits are safe.
- [Re-render a video in Tella](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/rerender-video.md): Re-render a Tella video by making a small edit in the editor, such as nudging a layout. It fixes failed exports and most playback or audio problems.
- [Why won't my video play or load?](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/recorded-video-wont-play-or-unknown-error.md): If one video plays black or keeps buffering, reload, try an incognito window, then re-render it. If your whole My videos library won't load, check status.tella.com: an outage doesn't delete your videos.

#### Errors and sign-in

- [I can't log in to Tella](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/i-cant-log-in-to-tella.md): Most Tella login problems happen because you signed up with a different email address. Find it in a Tella receipt email, then sign in with that address, or with Google if that's how you signed up.
- [Something went wrong error](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/something-went-wrong-error.md): Tella shows Something went wrong when a page fails to load or a recording can't start, stop, or finish. Reload or make a short test recording, check status.tella.com, and contact support if it continues.
- [Client-side exception error](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/client-side-exception-error.md): A client-side exception error in Tella is usually caused by an extension or cached data. Open Tella in an incognito window first, then clear site data.
- [Is Tella down? Fix 500 and "crashed" errors](https://www.tella.com/docs/help/troubleshooting/is-tella-down-500-errors.md): 500: INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR and FUNCTION_INVOCATION_FAILED come from Tella's servers, not your browser. Check status.tella.com for an incident; outages don't delete videos.
