# Add motion blur to screen recordings

> Add motion blur to fast zooms, pans, and animated cursor movement in a Tella video.

Motion blur softens fast movement in a screen recording. Use it to make zooms, pans, and animated cursor movement feel smoother and less abrupt.

## Turn on motion blur

1. Open your video in the Tella editor.
2. Click **Effect** in the sidebar, or press `E`.
3. Under **Zooms**, expand **Advanced zoom settings**.
4. Turn on **Motion blur**.
5. Drag the slider from **Subtle** to **Strong** to set the amount.

Motion blur works with manual zooms and Auto Zoom. Cursor movement is blurred when an [animated cursor](/docs/help/editing/customize-animated-cursor) is enabled on the clip.

## Change motion blur on one clip

Motion blur uses the video-wide setting by default. To change it for only the current clip:

1. Open **Effect** on that clip.
2. Under **Zooms**, expand **Advanced zoom settings**.
3. Turn on **Adjust this clip**.
4. Turn motion blur on or off, or change its amount.

Turn off **Adjust this clip** to make the clip use the video-wide motion blur setting and amount again.

## Turn motion blur off

Open **Advanced zoom settings** in **Effect** and turn off **Motion blur**. Tella keeps your zooms, pans, and cursor animation but renders their movement without blur.
