# Shrink the camera during zooms

> Automatically make a camera bubble smaller while a screen recording is zoomed in.

Shrink the camera bubble during a zoom to give the screen more room and keep the detail you are showing clear.

## Turn on camera shrinking

1. Open a video that contains both a screen recording and a camera bubble.
2. Click **Effect** in the editor sidebar, or press `E`.
3. Under **Zooms**, expand **Advanced zoom settings**.
4. Turn on **Shrink camera during zooms**.

The camera bubble automatically becomes smaller while a screen zoom is active, then returns to its layout size when the zoom ends. Your recording and layout stay unchanged.

<Note>
  This setting has no visible effect on clips without a camera bubble.
</Note>

## Change the setting on one clip

Camera shrinking uses the video-wide setting by default. To change it for only the current clip:

1. Open **Effect** on that clip.
2. Under **Zooms**, expand **Advanced zoom settings**.
3. Turn on **Adjust this clip**.
4. Turn **Shrink camera during zooms** on or off.

Turn off **Adjust this clip** to make the clip use the video-wide setting again.

## Keep the camera at the same size

Turn off **Shrink camera during zooms** when the speaker should remain equally prominent throughout the video. You can also use [Layouts](/docs/help/editing/use-layouts) to change the camera's normal size and position.
