# Export raw camera and screen recordings

> Download the raw video and audio files behind your video, either as camera and screen recordings with your timeline cuts applied, or every clip untouched.

If you need the underlying footage behind your Tella video — for example to edit it in another tool — you can download the raw video and audio files instead of the finished export. **Raw recordings (with cuts)** covers your video's camera and screen tracks; the plain **Raw recordings** option covers the video and audio clips attached to your scenes.

  Raw downloads require an active **paid plan** and aren't available during a free trial. Access depends on the video creator's workspace plan, even when an editor or viewer starts the download. Viewers can only use raw downloads if the video creator or an editor also turns on **Raw downloads** in [Viewer settings](/docs/help/sharing/viewer-settings#raw-downloads).

## Choose a raw export option

Open **Download**, then pick one of two raw options under **Type**:

### Raw recordings (with cuts)

* Creates a numbered folder for each scene in timeline order, such as `01 - Intro`. Each folder contains that scene's `camera.mp4`, `screen.mp4`, or both.
* Applies the cuts you made within each scene, so removed sections are trimmed out. If a scene only has one track, its folder only contains that track's file.
* Keeps each track at its original recording resolution. Different scenes can use different camera or screen resolutions, while recordings within the same scene and track must match. [Studio Voice](/docs/help/editing/studio-voice-audio-enhancement) remains applied to microphone audio when enabled.
* Removes other edits — layouts, crop, flip, frames, overlays, zooms, subtitles, background music, volume changes, transitions, watermark, and animated cursor.
* Treats an uploaded video clip as a screen recording, so it appears as `screen.mp4` in that scene's folder.

### Raw recordings

* Exports every individual recording, uncut and unedited, one file per recording — zipped together, organized into a folder per clip. A clip that contains both camera and screen footage produces two files in its folder (for example `Camera.mp4` and `Screen.mp4`).
* Includes the video and audio clips attached to your scenes, not just your camera and screen recordings — for example an inserted video clip or a sound effect. Background music applied to the whole video from the music library is not included.
* Files usually come from the compatibility copy of your footage that Tella uses for playback, not your original camera or screen capture file, so the codec or quality may differ slightly from what you originally recorded. Videos with transparency skip compatibility conversion, but the raw export still remuxes them and chooses `.webm` only for VP8, VP9, or AV1; other codecs (like ProRes) use `.mp4`.

<Note>
  The **Raw recordings (with cuts)** export renders at 30 frames per second, even if your camera or screen was recorded at a higher frame rate. The plain **Raw recordings** export keeps the frame rate of the file Tella uses for playback. Re-encoded compatibility copies are constant and clamped between 24 and 60 frames per second, while eligible H.264 or HEVC footage may be remuxed without changing its source frame rate. Videos with transparency skip conversion and keep their original frame rate.

## Steps

### As the video creator or an editor

1. Open your video in the editor.
2. In the top right, click **Download**.
3. Under **Type**, choose **Raw recordings (with cuts) (.zip)** or **Raw recordings (.zip)**.
4. Click **Download**.

### As a viewer

Raw downloads must be turned on for the video first — see the note above.

1. Open the video's view page.
2. Click **Download** in the top navigation bar.
3. Under **Type**, choose **Raw recordings (with cuts) (.zip)** or **Raw recordings (.zip)**.
4. Click **Download**.
