# Video analytics

<Tip>
  Detailed analytics view collection started January 30, 2026. Some views are available to everyone, and some advanced drill-down views are available to premium users.

Tella analytics helps you understand how your videos are performing across three levels:

* Analytics for a specific video

* Analytics for all videos in your workspace

* Analytics for a playlist

## Before you start: why totals may not match

Tella has only been tracking the full set of detailed analytics since January 30. Because of that, you may see a mismatch between:

* **Total views** shown on the video, and

* The **detailed analytics** shown in charts and breakdowns

If a video had views before January 30, those views can appear in the video’s total view count, but they will not appear in the detailed analytics.

## View analytics for a specific video

1. Open the video as an editor or creator.

2. Click the **view count** on the view page, or open **analytics** from the editor to see the full breakdown.

<Note>
  Only editors and creators of a video can open analytics. If you are a viewer, you can see the view count on the video but cannot click through to detailed analytics.
</Note>

On the video analytics page, you will see a summary of core metrics, including:

* Total views

* Unique viewers

* Watch time

* Percentage viewed

You will also see deeper insights, such as:

* **Engagement over the video’s duration**, showing how people interact throughout the video

* **Views over time**, showing when views happened

* **Latest views**, including how far each recent viewer got

* **Traffic origin**, showing where viewers came from (for example, the community if that is where you shared it)

* **Viewer locations**, showing where viewers are based

In the latest views section, you may also see details like the viewer’s country and device type (for example, mobile) and how much of the video they watched.

## View analytics for all videos in your workspace

1. In your workspace, open **overview** from the left sidebar.

2. Click **analytics**.

This view shows analytics across all of your videos, including:

* A summary of key stats at the top

* Visualizations for views and engagement

* Top performing videos

* Top traffic sources

* Top locations

You can drill down further to see full rankings for videos, traffic sources, and locations (availability depends on your plan).

## View analytics for a playlist

You can also view analytics for a playlist to understand how a group of videos performs together.

1. Open the playlist.

2. Open **analytics**.

Playlist analytics can help you:

* Identify the top performing video within the playlist

* Understand where playlist traffic is coming from (for example, embeds on a Notion page)

* See top viewer locations for the playlist

* Review engagement and views over time across the whole playlist

This is especially useful if you use playlists for an online course, a training library, or customer onboarding. It gives you visibility into whether viewers are engaging with the content you shared.

### Plan access

* Analytics is available to everyone, but some advanced drill-down views are paywalled for premium users

* If you want access to the full detailed picture (rankings and deeper traffic/viewing breakdowns), you can upgrade to premium
