# Generate an animated GIF from your video

> Download an animated GIF from your Tella video with custom start time, duration, and size.

You can export an animated GIF from any Tella video. Choose a start time, set the duration, pick a size, and preview the result before downloading.

## Download a GIF

1. Open your video in the editor.

2. Click **Share** in the top right, then click **Download**.

3. Under **Type**, select **Thumbnail (.gif)**.

4. Set your preferred options:

   * **Start time** — choose where in the video the GIF begins (in seconds). Use the increment and decrement buttons to fine-tune the value.
   * **Duration** — drag the slider to set how long the GIF loops, from 0.5 seconds up to 30 seconds. The maximum is clamped to the remaining video length from your start time.
   * **Size** — select **Large** (1280px), **Medium** (640px), or **Small** (320px).

5. Check the live preview to confirm the GIF looks right.

6. Click **Download GIF**.

<Tip>
  You can also download a static thumbnail as JPG or WebP from the same menu. Static thumbnails support the same start time and size controls but do not have a duration slider.
