# Publish to X

> Post a Tella video straight to your X account from Share → Publish and tag accounts with @. X posts are public; length and character limits follow your account, with more for X Premium.

Tella posts your video straight to your X account from **Share** → **Publish**. The description becomes the post text, or the title if the description is empty. X posts are public.

## Publish a video to X

1. Click **Share** and open the **Publish** tab.
2. Under **Destinations**, pick **X** (connect it first if it says **Connect**).
3. Under **Post details**, click **All destinations** to show the platform tabs, then open the **X** tab and write the post in **Description**.
4. Click **Publish to X**.

## Tag an account in an X post

On the **X** tab, type `@` and the start of an account's name in the **Description**, then pick the account from the list.

## How long can an X post be?

The character count under the description uses your account's limit: 280 characters, or 25,000 with X Premium or a verified checkmark.

## How long can an X video be?

X sets the limit per account: 20 minutes for most accounts, and longer with X Premium or a verified checkmark. Tella reads your account's limit and greys out **X** with **Unavailable: longer than 20 mins** if the video is longer.

## Share a Tella link on X instead

Copy your video's Tella link and paste it into a post. X shows a preview that most viewers can play inline, and some clients open the video on Tella instead.

## Upload the video to X yourself

Click **Download** in the editor and save the video as an MP4, then attach it to a post on X. Set **Subtitles** to **Burned in** before downloading if you want subtitles, since X doesn't take a separate subtitle file.
