# Command menu

> Quickly find and run editor actions from a searchable menu.

The command menu lets you search and run editor actions from your keyboard — navigation, tools, layouts, playback, recording, and more — without hunting through menus.

## Open the command menu

Press **Cmd+K** (macOS) or **Ctrl+K** (Windows) anywhere in the editor.

A search box opens in the middle of the screen. Start typing to filter actions by name or related keyword.

## Navigate and run an action

* Use the **arrow keys** to move up and down the list.
* Press **Enter** to run the highlighted action.
* Press **Esc** to close the menu without running anything.

## What you can do from here

Actions are grouped by category so the list stays useful as the editor grows:

* **Navigation** — jump to other parts of Tella like analytics.
* **General** — common toggles like switching to dark mode.
* **Recording** — start a recording or change the recording setup.
* **Playback** — play, pause, and seek shortcuts.
* **Tools** — open Trim, Audio, Transcript, Layout, Adjust, Zoom, and Mask panels.

The exact list depends on what's available in your current context — for example, mask-only actions only appear when you're editing a clip that supports masks.

## Tips

* The search is fuzzy and looks at keywords too, so you don't need to remember the exact label. Type `zoom`, `cut`, `dark`, or `analytics` and the right action will float to the top.
* Use the command menu whenever you can't remember a keyboard shortcut for a specific tool — every shortcut you'd hit is also a command, and the menu shows the shortcut next to the action.
* See the full list of single-key shortcuts in [Keyboard shortcuts](/help/tips/keyboard-shortcuts).
