# How to edit a product demo video with AI

> **Short answer:** Edit a product demo in this order: cut the mistakes and dead air, crop the screen to the product, zoom in on every important click, blur anything private, add a title and captions, then share a link. ## The edit, step by step (Tella MCP)

1. **Understand it:** `get_timeline`, `get_transcript` (`view: "sentences"`) and `get_storyboard`.
2. **Cut mistakes and dead air:** the `tella-auto-cut` skill, or `remove_fillers`, `remove_silences` (`natural`) and `cut_clip_by_transcript` for retakes and tangents.
3. **Crop to the product:** `auto_crop` removes the desktop, browser chrome or second monitor.
4. **Layout:** camera bubble during the demo, larger camera for the intro and wrap-up, with `add_layout` / `update_layout`, or the `tella-auto-layouts` skill.
5. **Zooms:** `generate_auto_zooms` from your clicks; drop zooms closer than 2 seconds apart.
6. **Privacy:** `add_blur` over customer names, emails and keys.
7. **Explain:** a title with `add_text_overlay`, captions with `update_video` (`captionsEnabled: true`), chapters with `set_chapters` for demos over 3 minutes.
8. **Audio:** `update_video` with `studioSound: true`.
9. **Check:** `get_video_preview` over every edited range.
10. **Ship:** share the link (it has viewer analytics), `export_video` for an MP4, or `publish_to_social`.

## How long should a product demo be?

Under 2 minutes for a homepage or launch demo, 3–5 minutes for a feature walkthrough, longer only for a recorded sales demo for one prospect. Cutting fillers and silences alone usually takes 20–40% off a first take.

## Record it so it's easy to edit

- Record the screen and camera together, so layouts can switch between them later.
- Use a clean browser profile with demo data, so there's less to blur.
