Shape how your video sounds with Effects in the editor’s Audio panel. Pick a voice preset, or build your own chain of effects such as an equalizer, a compressor, reverb or echo.
Effects apply to the sound of every clip in your video. Background music stays as it is.

Open the Effects section

  1. Open your video in the Tella editor.
  2. Click Audio in the left toolbar.
  3. Scroll to Effects, below Studio Voice.

Start from a preset

Click a preset to apply it. Each one shows a small picture of how it changes the sound:
  • Clear voice
  • Warm
  • Broadcast
  • Phone
  • Room
  • Hall
A preset replaces all the effects you’ve added. The preset stays highlighted until you change one of its effects.

Add an effect

Click Add next to Effects and choose an effect. Each one has a short hint in the menu: You can add up to 16 effects. They run in order from top to bottom, so an echo added after a reverb sounds different from one added before it.

Adjust an effect

Each effect appears as a card with a live graph of what it does. Click the card’s name to expand it and show its sliders.
  • Drag a slider to change a setting. You hear the change as you drag.
  • Double-click a slider to reset it to its default.
  • Use the switch on the left of the card to turn the effect off without removing it.

Equalizer bands

The Equalizer shows each band as a coloured handle on its graph:
  1. Drag a handle to change that band’s frequency and gain.
  2. Double-click the graph, or click + in the band strip, to add a band. You can have up to 8.
  3. Select a band in the strip and pick its shape: Low shelf, Bell or High shelf.

Reorder, reset or remove effects

Click ⋯ on an effect’s card to:
  • Move up or Move down in the chain
  • Reset the effect to its default settings
  • Remove the effect
To remove every effect at once, click Clear next to Effects.
Echoes and reverb tails carry across cuts within a scene, so the sound doesn’t stop abruptly at each cut.
