Add a Tella Motion clip from Add clip, then ask the Tella Agent to build animated titles, shapes and graphics in it, or as overlays and b-roll.
Tella Motion adds animated graphics to your video: title cards, animated text, shapes and motion designs. To start one, choose Add clip → New Tella Motion clip under the timeline, then describe what you want to the Tella Agent and it builds it.
Click Add clip at the end of the clips under the preview.
Choose New Tella Motion clip.
Tella adds a blank 10-second clip named “Tella Motion” plus a number at the end of your video and opens it. Tella Motion clips have a rose card in the clip list, so you can tell them apart from your recorded clips.
You don’t need a separate clip to use Tella Motion. Ask the agent to add a Tella Motion overlay or b-roll to one of your recorded clips, for example “Add an animated lower third with my name when I first appear” or “Show an animated chart while I talk about revenue.” It plays over your recording or in place of it, timed to what you say.
A Tella Motion clip plays its own animation instead of a recording, so it has no transcript, layouts or cuts. You can still add overlays on top of it.
In the toolbar on the left, Setup, Library and Overlay work. The other tools show “Not available in a Tella Motion clip”.
Click Overlay to add images, videos and text on top of the animation. They’re timed from the start of the clip and appear above it in your shared and exported video.
Use the playbar under the preview to play the clip or click to jump to a moment.
Open the clip’s menu in the clip list to Rename, Duplicate or Delete it, or drag it to move it.
Open Setup to play the whole video, Tella Motion clips included.
Tella Motion clips play in your shared and exported video like any other clip.
AI agents connected to the Tella MCP server, and scripts using the Tella API, can build Tella Motion clips, overlays and b-roll with the same commands the Tella Agent uses. See Tella Motion in the developer docs for the tools, endpoints and every command they take.
