Tella posts your video to Instagram as a post, reel or story, and to a Facebook Page as a post or story, from Share → Publish. Both use one Facebook connection. Facebook posts go to a Page you manage, not your personal profile, and Instagram needs a professional account linked to one of those Pages.
Before you start: Pages and professional accounts
Meta only lets apps post to Facebook Pages and Instagram professional (business or creator) accounts:
- Facebook and Facebook Stories post to a Facebook Page you manage. If your Facebook account doesn’t manage one, Tella says This Facebook account doesn’t manage a Page.
- Instagram, Instagram Reels and Instagram Stories post to an Instagram professional account linked to one of your Pages. If none is, Tella says None of your Facebook Pages has a linked Instagram professional account. Switch your Instagram account to professional and link it to your Page in Instagram’s settings, then try again.
When you connect, sign in with the Facebook account that manages the Page, and allow Tella access to that Page and its Instagram account.
Publish to Instagram or Facebook
- Click Share and open the Publish tab.
- Under Destinations, pick one or more of Instagram, Instagram Reels, Instagram Stories, Facebook and Facebook Stories. Connecting any of them connects Facebook for all five.
- Check where the post goes, just below the platforms: Posting to the Facebook Page … and Posting to the Instagram account …. If you manage more than one, choose from the Facebook Page and Instagram account menus.
- Under Post details, write the text on the All destinations tab. To give Instagram or Facebook its own text, click All destinations to show the platform tabs, then open the Instagram or Facebook tab.
- Click Publish.
Choose which Page and Instagram account Tella posts to
The Publish tab starts on your default Page and Instagram account. To set them:
- Go to Settings → Connections.
- On the Facebook card, choose a Default Facebook Page and a Default Instagram account.
A Page or account you add or unlink on Facebook shows up the next time you open Publish, without reconnecting.
Instagram post, reel or story: which should I pick?
- Instagram publishes a reel that’s also shared to your feed, so it appears in your profile grid as well as in Reels.
- Instagram Reels publishes a reel that isn’t shared to your feed, and lets you share it as a trial reel.
- Instagram Stories publishes a story. Stories show no caption.
Posts and reels can be 3 seconds to 15 minutes long and up to 300 MB. Stories can be 3 to 60 seconds and up to 100 MB. None of them take 4K: set the size to HD under Export settings.
Share an Instagram trial reel
A trial reel is shown to people who don’t follow you first. To post one:
- Pick Instagram Reels under Destinations.
- On the Instagram Reels tab under Post details, turn on Share as a trial reel.
- Under Share with followers, choose When I share it in Instagram to decide yourself later, or Automatically if it performs well to let Instagram share it.
Who can see a Facebook post?
On the Facebook tab, choose Who can see it:
- Everyone: the video is posted on your Page.
- Anyone with the link: the video is uploaded to your Page without appearing on it, and anyone with its link can watch it.
- Only people who manage the Page: the video stays unpublished, visible only to the Page’s admins.
Instagram posts and all stories are public.
Post a Facebook Story
Pick Facebook Stories. The video has to be vertical and 3 to 60 seconds long, and stories show no text: the title and description only name the publication inside Tella. Last modified on September 30, 2026
