A failed publish usually means the platform’s connection has expired, the video breaks one of the platform’s limits, or Meta has no Page or Instagram account to post to. The Publish tab says which: fix it and click Publish again. A failure on one platform doesn’t stop the others.

”Couldn’t publish to … Try again.”

The platform refused the video after Tella sent it. Click Publish again. If it keeps failing, check the platform’s limits in Video requirements for each social platform: the file size is only checked after the export, so a video that’s too big fails here. Lower the size under Export settings or publish a shorter video.

”Tella no longer knows whether this publish finished”

Tella records the result automatically when publishing finishes, even if you close the dialog. Checking it later doesn’t normally lose the result. If a result wasn’t recorded and Tella can no longer retrieve it, the Publish tab says Tella no longer knows whether this publish finished. Check the platform before publishing again. This doesn’t mean the publish failed. Check your account on the platform for the post before trying again: publishing again can create a duplicate.

A platform I connected asks me to connect it again

Platforms end app access after a while, or when you change your password or remove Tella in their settings. The platform then shows Connect again under Destinations, and its card in Settings → Connections reads Needs reconnecting. Click either one and sign in again. For YouTube, Google sometimes won’t renew access at all: remove Tella at myaccount.google.com/permissions, then reconnect.

Why is the Publish button disabled?

The button stays disabled until every platform you picked is ready:
  • No platform is picked. A platform your video can’t go to is dropped from your selection; see the next section.
  • A title is empty. Every platform needs a title, on All destinations or on the platform’s own tab.
  • TikTok has no audience. Choose Who can see it on the TikTok tab. If you turned on Disclose commercial content, also choose Your brand or Branded content.
  • A publish to that platform is still running. Wait for it to finish.

Why is a platform greyed out?

Your video breaks one of that platform’s limits. Hover the platform under Destinations to see which: Unavailable: landscape video, Unavailable: longer than …, Unavailable: shorter than 3 secs or Unavailable: 4K export. Change the video’s format in the editor, or the size or speed under Export settings, and the platform can be picked again. See Video requirements for each social platform.

”The export failed” or “The export is taking too long”

Tella exports the video before publishing it. If the export fails, try downloading the video from Download to see whether it exports at all. If it’s still running after about 10 minutes, the Publish tab stops waiting: try again in a few minutes and Tella reuses the finished export.

”Already publishing to …”

Only one publish to each platform runs at a time. Wait for the current one to finish, shown under the steps, then publish again.

Facebook or Instagram has nowhere to post

Facebook posts go to a Page, and Instagram posts go to a professional account linked to a Page. If Tella says This Facebook account doesn’t manage a Page or None of your Facebook Pages has a linked Instagram professional account, set that up on Facebook or Instagram, then open Publish again. See Publish to Instagram and Facebook.

”Published to YouTube with subtitles missing”

The video was published, but YouTube refused one or more caption tracks. The message includes YouTube’s reason. To show subtitles anyway, turn on Burn subtitles into the video and publish again.

Still stuck?
