The keys pressed during the clip’s screen recording, mapped onto the clip’s playback timeline (cuts applied). Use them to find when a shortcut was used or something was typed, for example to place a zoom, a cut or a text overlay there. Only recordings made with the Tella Mac app capture the keyboard. Keys typed into Tella’s own window are left out, and each event carries the key’s label (C, Return, →), never the characters it typed. Because key presses can still reveal what someone typed, only the video’s creator and editors can read them.
All times are milliseconds on the clip’s playback timeline — the video as watched, with cuts applied. It is the same timeline as get_transcript, thumbnails, and previews, so nothing needs converting. A start at or past the end of the clip is rejected with a 400.

get_key_events

Get the key events from the clip’s screen recording. Each event has a kind: down and up for a key being pressed and released, with the modifiers held (control, option, shift, command, capsLock, function), or modifiersChanged when the set of held modifiers changes (then key is null). isRepeat marks auto-repeats while a key is held. Events during cut-out footage are dropped. Returns an empty list when the clip has no screen recording or its recording has no keyboard data (web and Windows recordings, uploads, older Mac app versions).
