Yes. The public API, webhooks, and the MCP server are included on every Tella plan, including Pro and the free trial. There is no separate developer tier or add-on. Tella’s agent skills are open source and free, and only the skills that touch your workspace need a Tella account at all. The only limits are the ones your plan already has in the app: what you can export, embed, or generate through the API is what you can do in the editor.

Get an API key

  1. Click your workspace name in the top-left corner and open Settings.
  2. Open API Keys under Other.
  3. Create a key and copy it.
Keys belong to your workspace. Members with the Viewer role cannot open this page; ask a workspace owner or member to create a key for you. See Create and manage API keys and Public API and webhooks. The endpoint reference, including analytics, is in the developer documentation.

Connect an AI assistant with MCP

Open Settings → Connections → AI apps to connect Claude or ChatGPT, or reveal setup instructions for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and other clients. The MCP server is https://api.tella.com/mcp. Sign in to Tella when prompted and pick the workspace it should use. Some clients ask for an API key instead; use one from Settings → API Keys. For more setup options and fixes for a stuck sign-in, see Tella MCP Server.

Where do I add skills in Tella?

You install skills in your AI agent, such as Claude Code, not in Tella settings. Settings → Connections has a Skills section with a Browse Tella Skills link, but installation happens in your agent. A skill that cuts, clips, or zooms a local video file runs on your machine and needs no Tella account. Skills that read or publish from your workspace, such as editing through the MCP or Tella to YouTube, connect through the MCP server or an API key. See Agent skills guide.

Plan limits that still apply

The API and MCP use the same plan as your workspace, so the same limits apply:
  • 4K export needs a paid plan and is not available during the free trial.
  • 60 FPS export needs Premium, or Pro for videos up to 5 minutes long after cuts, and is not available during the free trial.
  • Domain-restricted embedding needs Premium.
  • Weekly AI generation allowances for media depend on your plan.
See Tella plans for the comparison.
