Speaker notes are Tella’s built-in teleprompter. You can read a script or talking points while recording without the notes appearing in your final video.
Use speaker notes in the web recorder
- Open the web recorder and set up your camera and microphone.
- Click More in the recorder controls.
- Select Show Speaker Notes.
- Write or paste your script into the notes panel.
- Start recording when you are ready.
Resize or hide your notes
- Drag the handle at the bottom of the notes panel to make it taller or shorter. Tella limits the height to keep your recording preview visible.
- Click the minus button to hide the panel. Open More and select Show Speaker Notes to restore it.
Use teleprompter playback
Click Play in the notes panel to start auto-scrolling your script. Click Pause whenever you need to stop. If you scroll the notes manually, playback continues from the new position. When playback reaches the end, click Play again to restart from the top.Change the text size or speed
- Click Speaker notes preferences in the notes panel.
- Choose Text size, then select Small, Medium, or Large.
- Choose Playback speed, then select:
- Slow — 120 words per minute
- Medium — 160 words per minute
- Fast — 200 words per minute
Use the free online teleprompter
You can use Tella’s free online teleprompter in any browser without creating an account. It works on computers, phones, and tablets.- Write or paste your script.
- Set your reading speed in words per minute and choose a text size.
- Turn on Mirror if you use beam-splitter teleprompter glass.
- Click Start teleprompter. Your script begins scrolling after a three-second countdown.
Control the teleprompter while reading
- Press Space to pause or resume.
- Press the up or down arrow to change the speed by 10 words per minute.
- Press the left or right arrow to move backward or forward a few lines.
- Press M to mirror the text.
- Press R to restart from the top.
- Press Esc to close the teleprompter.
Your script and settings stay in your browser’s local storage and are never sent to Tella.
Use speaker notes while sharing your screen
Speaker notes stay inside the web recorder, so they are not visible when you switch to another window.- With two monitors, keep Tella and your speaker notes on one display while sharing content from the other.
- With one monitor, return to the Tella recorder when you need to view or control your notes.
