Frequently asked questions
Paste your script into the box above, choose a reading speed, and click Start teleprompter. After a three-second countdown the script scrolls past a reading line in the top third of the screen, which is where your eyes should sit so you still look close to the lens.
Most people speak between 120 and 150 words per minute, and 130 is a good place to start for a walkthrough or a product update. Slow it to around 110 for anything technical, and push past 160 only for a scripted read you've already rehearsed.
Space plays and pauses. The up and down arrows change speed by 10 words per minute mid-take, and left and right nudge the script back and forward a few lines if you lose your place. M mirrors the text, R restarts from the top, Esc closes the prompter.
Yes. Mirror mode flips the text horizontally so it reads correctly through the beam-splitter glass of a prompter mounted over your lens. Leave it off when you're reading straight off a laptop or a second monitor.
No. The script lives in your browser and is saved to your own device so it's still there when you come back. It's never sent to Tella or to anyone else, which matters when the script is an unannounced feature or a customer's name.
This tool only shows the script — run it alongside whatever you record with, on the same screen or a second one. If you want the recording in the same place, Tella records your camera, screen, mic and system audio in the browser and edits the result with AI.
Yes. It works in mobile browsers, and a phone or tablet propped under your camera is the cheapest prompter setup there is. Turn on mirror mode if you're using prompter glass, and bump the text size up so you can read it from where you sit.
It's free, with no account, no sign-up and no length limit on your script. It's built by the team behind Tella, a screen and camera recorder — if you need to record and edit the video as well as read the script, that's the product this tool came from.
