Tella supports a dark theme across the editor, dashboard, and settings. You can choose to always use light, always use dark, or follow your system preference.

How to change your theme

  1. Click your avatar in the top right and open Settings.
  2. Go to Preferences.
  3. Under General → Appearance, pick one of the options:
    • System — matches your operating system’s light/dark setting and updates automatically when you change it. This is the default.
    • Light — always uses the light theme.
    • Dark — always uses the dark theme.
The change applies instantly across every page.

Use the command menu

You can also change your appearance without opening Settings:
  1. Press Cmd+K (macOS) or Ctrl+K (Windows) to open the command menu.
  2. Search for appearance, theme, or system.
  3. Select Use system appearance to follow your operating system’s theme.
This action appears when you have selected Light or Dark. Once System is active, it disappears from the menu. You can still use the menu to switch directly between light and dark mode.

Where it applies

The Appearance setting controls the look of your Tella account everywhere you sign in: the dashboard, editor, settings, and recorder. It does not change how your shared video pages look to viewers — those follow your workspace branding instead.

Per-device or account-wide?

Your Appearance preference is saved to your account, so it syncs across every device you sign in on. If you set Dark on your laptop, you’ll get Dark on your desktop too.
