Tella doesn’t currently have a tool for adding text, titles, headings, or emoji overlays on top of your video. This is a popular request and it’s on our radar — but rather than guessing at workarounds, here’s what Tella does support today:
Alternatives that work today
- Subtitles — automatic captions, fully editable, rendered on the video. See Edit the transcript and Find & replace subtitles.
- Chapters — label sections of your video so viewers can navigate. See Chapters.
- An image with text via Media (B-roll) — create a title card or annotated screenshot in any design tool (or generate one with AI), then show it in a layout section. Your camera can stay on screen while it shows. See Add media.
- Your logo — add a persistent logo to your videos with custom branding.
For a TikTok/Reels-style fixed heading, the Media route works well: make a transparent or solid title card sized to your canvas, add it as media, and stretch the section across the clip.
If text overlays would make a difference for you, tell us via the in-app support chat — feature requests are tracked and genuinely influence the roadmap.
