Connect Pinterest, Are.na or mymind under Settings → Connections to use the images you saved there in your videos. In the editor, they appear in the External media section of Overlay and under More in the Media Library.
Connect Pinterest or Are.na
- Click your workspace name in the top-left corner and open Settings → Connections.
- Under Media, find Pinterest or Are.na and click Connect.
- Sign in in the tab that opens and allow Tella access.
- Come back to Tella. The card shows Connected.
You can connect one Pinterest account and one Are.na account.
Connect mymind
mymind connects with an access key instead of a sign-in.
- Open Settings → Connections and click Connect on the mymind card under Media.
- Click Open mymind Extensions and create an access key there. Choose Read only: Tella only reads what you saved.
- Back in Tella, paste the Key ID and Secret that mymind shows you, then click Connect.
Tella checks the key with mymind before saving it. If the key doesn’t work, the dialog shows an error and nothing is saved.
Add a saved image as an overlay
- Open your video in the editor and move the playhead to where you want the image.
- Open Overlay in the sidebar.
- Find the External media section. It shows your latest saved images, mixed from every service you’ve connected.
- To see one service only, click the menu in the section header (it reads All) and pick Pinterest, Are.na or mymind.
- Click an image. Tella copies it into your video and adds it as an overlay at the playhead.
Click Browse all to open the Media Library on that service and browse your boards, channels or spaces. Until you connect a service, the section shows Connect an account, which opens Settings → Connections.
Browse your boards, channels and spaces
The Media Library also lists your connected services, wherever you can pick an image: when adding an overlay, or when picking media for a Media layout (B-roll).
- In the Media Library, click More and choose Pinterest, Are.na or mymind.
- Your Pinterest boards, Are.na channels or mymind spaces are listed, each with a few of its images. Click one, or its View all, to open it.
- Click an image to add it. The library stays open so you can add more.
Type in the search box to search what you saved on that service. Inside a board, channel or space, the search narrows the images shown there by title.
Why don’t I see all my saved images?
Tella shows a limited number of images from each service at a time, and doesn’t load more as you scroll:
- Boards, channels and spaces: up to 24 are listed.
- Inside one: up to 50 images from a Pinterest board, 100 from an Are.na channel, or 48 from a mymind space.
- Search results: up to 50 on Pinterest and 48 on Are.na and mymind.
Searching inside a board, channel or space only filters the images already shown, so an image past the limit won’t turn up. Search the whole service from the top level instead. On Are.na, searching everything needs Are.na Premium; without it, Tella searches the titles and descriptions of your 100 newest images.
To use an image that doesn’t show up, save it to your computer and upload it to the Media Library.
If you haven’t connected the service yet, the library shows a Connect button for it that opens Settings → Connections.
What can I bring in?
Images only. Tella copies each image into the video’s Video library, so you can reuse it in the same video from there.
- Pinterest: image pins. Video and carousel pins can’t be added.
- Are.na: image blocks.
- mymind: saved images, and for saved web pages and articles, the screenshot mymind took of them. Saved videos, audio and documents can’t be added.
Use them from the API or MCP
The Media library API and the MCP server’s library tools can list the images you saved on a connected service and bring one into Tella, so an AI agent or script can place them in your videos.
Who can see my saved images?
Only you. These connections belong to your Tella user, not your workspace, so teammates who edit your video see their own connected accounts, not yours. Images you’ve already added to a video stay in that video for everyone who can edit it.
Disconnect a service
Open Settings → Connections and click Disconnect on the service’s card. Images you’ve already added to videos stay where they are. Last modified on October 12, 2026
