Make a number count up in your video

Ask the Tella Agent for a number that counts up in your video. Tella Motion animates it from start to end value, with a prefix, suffix and decimals.

Try it in Tella

Paste a prompt into the Tella Agent in the editor, or into Claude or ChatGPT connected to Tella, then ask for changes.

Start here
When I say 'teams now use Tallowbrook', add a Tella Motion overlay on the right: a number that counts up from 0 to 3200 over 2 seconds, easing out, in bold white Inter. Put 'teams' underneath in smaller gray text, then hold it for 3 seconds.
  • Investor update

Make a 6-second Tella Motion clip on a dark green background. Count from 0 to 42.5 with one decimal and a '%' suffix over 3 seconds, then fade in 'Year-over-year growth at Quillmere' below it.

  • Fundraising recap

When I mention how much we raised, show a counter in the lower left that runs from 0 to 85000 over 2.5 seconds with a '$' prefix, in Oswald, orange #F97316. Pop it in and fade it out a second after I finish the sentence.

How do I make an animated number counter that counts up in a video?

In the Tella editor, ask the Tella Agent for a number that counts up, for example from 0 to 3200 over 2 seconds. Tella Motion builds it as an overlay on your recording, timed to what you say, or in its own Tella Motion clip. You can add a prefix like $, a suffix like % and up to 6 decimal places.

How to do it

  1. Open your video and the Tella Agent chat on the right (Shift + S shows the sidebar).
  2. Select a recorded clip, or choose Add clip → New Tella Motion clip.
  3. Give the start and end values, how long the count takes, and any prefix, suffix or decimals.
  4. On a recorded clip, say which words start the count. Preview it and ask for changes.

Good to know

  • Available to everyone: through the Tella Agent on a paid plan or the 7-day trial, or through Claude or ChatGPT on any plan.
  • The count runs on values you set. It doesn't read a live data source or update after export.
  • A Tella Motion clip has no transcript, so a counter there is timed in seconds. To start it on your words, add it over a recorded clip.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Tella Motion animates the number with easing such as ease, easeIn or easeOut. Ask the Tella Agent for the count to ease out and it slows as it lands on the final number.

Yes. The counter reads a named curve in Tella Motion, and other properties, like a bar's scale, can read the same curve. Ask the Tella Agent to tie them together so the bar grows in step with the number.

Yes. An AI app connected to Tella's MCP server can use the same Tella Motion commands as the Tella Agent: setCurve to animate the value, then bindProperty to show it in a title's text.
