Have an AI agent film the steps that reproduce a bug
Auto Capture films the steps to reproduce a bug on a public URL, with chapters and key presses, so developers see exactly what happens.
Try it in Tella
Paste a prompt into the Tella Agent in the editor, or into Claude or ChatGPT connected to Tella, then ask for changes.
Use Tella Auto Capture to record the steps to reproduce a bug on https://staging.quillbank.example/invoices for our developers. Open the March invoice, change the currency to EUR, click Save, then reopen it and end on the total, which still shows USD. Sign in with the "QA sandbox" credential. Film every step on camera and don't send the invoice.
Record a keyboard-driven bug repro in Harborlight at https://app.harborlight.example/notes for the engineering team. Create a note titled "Repro test", type two lines, press Cmd+Z twice and end on the empty note where both lines vanished. Use the "QA account" credential. Creating notes is fine.
A customer says the Fenwickly checkout coupon doesn't apply. Use Tella Auto Capture to film it at https://shop.fenwickly.example: add the blue mug to the cart, go to checkout, enter the code SPRING10 and end on the order summary showing no discount. Stop before payment and don't place an order.
Can an AI agent record a video of the steps to reproduce a bug?
Yes, for web apps on a public domain. Ask the Tella Agent in the editor, or Claude or ChatGPT connected to Tella's MCP server, to use Auto Capture on the page's full URL, and list each step and the screen where the bug shows. Auto Capture follows the steps you name in a browser on Tella's servers, films them with an animated cursor, and delivers the take with a handoff note and chapters.
How to do it
- If the bug is behind a sign-in, save a test login under Settings → Credentials.
- Ask for one take with the URL, each step, and the screen to end on.
- Say "film every step on camera" so the path to the bug isn't skipped.
- Read the handoff note to see where the take departed from your steps.
- Place the take in a new Tella video and share its link in the issue.
Good to know
- Beta, on paid plans. Each take uses your workspace's credits, the same balance the Tella Agent spends.
- Auto Capture records http or https pages on a public domain only, not localhost, IP addresses, intranet hosts, desktop apps or mobile apps. If your own site's firewall or bot protection blocks captures, allow requests carrying your workspace's X-Tella-Auto-Capture header.
- Auto Capture uses the signed-in account for real. Use a test account and say what mustn't change, such as "don't send anything".
- If the agent gets stuck on something only you can answer, the take ends with a question instead of a recording. Answer it and the take is revised.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or Cursor to Tella's MCP server and ask it to use Tella Auto Capture on the page's full URL with your steps. When the take is delivered, ask it to put the take in a new Tella video.
Yes. Every key a Tella Auto Capture take presses is recorded with it, except text typed from a saved login, so you can show them on screen with Keystrokes. By default the agent clicks controls, so ask for a keyboard-driven take if the bug needs shortcuts.
Place the Auto Capture take in a Tella video, copy the video's share link, paste it into the Linear issue or comment and choose embed. Developers can then watch it inline without leaving Linear.
