Show new customers their first steps in your app

Describe a new customer's first steps in your web app. Auto Capture signs in with a demo login and films the journey with an animated cursor.

Auto Capture adding a customer and sending their first invoice in Tallyfern, a made-up invoicing app we test with.

Try it in Tella

Paste a prompt into the Tella Agent in the editor, or into Claude or ChatGPT connected to Tella, then ask for changes.

Start here
Use Tella Auto Capture to film https://app.example.com for first-time users: create a project, invite a teammate, and end on the project page with them listed. Sign in with the "Demo account" credential. Film every page on camera.
  • Agency project tool

Onboarding video for agencies new to https://app.example.com: create a Spring Campaign project, invite sam@example.com as an editor, and end on the board with Sam listed. Use the "Onboarding demo" credential. Sending the invite is fine.

  • Bookkeeping app

First-day video for business owners at https://app.example.com: open the sample company, categorize three transactions as Office supplies, Travel and Software, and end on the dashboard with updated totals. Use the "Sandbox owner" credential. Change nothing outside the sample company.

How do I make an onboarding video showing new customers their first steps in our app?

Use Tella's Auto Capture. Save a demo login under Settings → Credentials, then ask the Tella Agent, or Claude or ChatGPT connected to Tella, for a take with your app's URL, the steps to show and where it ends. It signs in off camera, explores, then films the journey with an animated cursor. You get chapters and suggested cuts.

How to do it

  1. Save a demo account with sample data in Settings → Credentials.
  2. Ask for a take naming the audience, first steps, end screen and credential.
  3. Say what may change on the account, like sending invites.
  4. Read the handoff note, ask for a revision if needed, then trim the take.

Good to know

  • Closed beta on paid plans: email support@tella.com for access. Each take uses your workspace's credits, the same balance the Tella Agent spends.
  • Auto Capture doesn't narrate. Record a voiceover in an audio app and add the file as a sound in Tella.
  • Anything the demo account can see may appear in the video, so avoid accounts with customer data.
  • It records public web pages only, not localhost, intranet hosts, desktop or mobile apps, or sites that block automated browsers.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Connect Claude or ChatGPT to Tella's MCP server in Settings → Connections, then ask for an Auto Capture take with your URL. Ask it to put the take in a new Tella video so it appears in your library.

Tella's Auto Capture uses the signed-in account for real. Changes made while exploring are undone before filming. It asks before anything it can't undo, like sending an invite. Use a sandbox, or have it stop on the invite screen.

Yes. Each Auto Capture take films one journey, so ask for one take per task and have them added to the same Tella video in order. Each take comes with chapters.
