Add an image on top of your video

Attach an image in the Tella Agent chat and say when and where it should show. Tella places it over your recording and can animate it in and out.

Try it in Tella

Paste a prompt into the Tella Agent in the editor, or into Claude or ChatGPT connected to Tella, then ask for changes.

I've attached the new Tallyfern dashboard screenshot. Show it on the right at 40% of the canvas width from when I say "here's the new dashboard" until the end of that sentence. Slide it up in and fade it out.

Put the photo of the Quillhaven studio I attached behind me while I talk about our new space, and fade it in and out.

Each time I mention the Brackenmoor mobile app, show the phone mockup I attached in the bottom-right corner at 25% of the canvas width for four seconds, growing in and shrinking out.

How do I add an image or picture on top of my video?

In Tella, attach the image in the Tella Agent chat (click + in the message box, then Attach…) and say when it should appear, where it sits and how big it is. The agent places it as an overlay over your recording and can fade, slide or grow it in and out. To do it yourself, open Overlay in the editor sidebar and upload the image under Media, or drop the file onto the timeline.

How to do it

  1. Open your video in the Tella editor.
  2. In the Tella Agent chat, click +, then Attach…, and pick your image.
  3. Say when it shows, where it sits, how big it is and how it animates.
  4. Drag the overlay on the canvas, or its card on the timeline, to fine-tune it.

Good to know

  • Needs a paid plan or the 7-day trial. Messages use your workspace's credits.
  • An overlay pops in and out instantly unless you or the agent give it an animation.
  • Images you attach are added to the current video's media library, under Personal, In this video, so you can place them again yourself.
  • On a clip with your camera, an image can sit behind you instead of in front.

Yes. An app connected to Tella's MCP server uploads the image with create_source, then places it with add_overlay, giving it a time range, position, size and an optional entrance and exit animation.
