Fix eye contact in a video where you read a script
Ask the Tella Agent to turn on Eye contact. Tella redirects your gaze toward the lens in your webcam recordings, in playback and exports.
Try it in Tella
Paste a prompt into the Tella Agent in the editor, or into Claude or ChatGPT connected to Tella, then ask for changes.
I read my script from notes beside the camera, so I'm looking off to the side. Turn on Eye contact for this video and tell me when my camera recordings are ready.
This is the Quillmark 4.2 update, read word for word from a script. Turn on Eye contact, then cut the filler words and the long pauses.
Lesson 5 of my Brindlewood bookkeeping course has three camera takes where I glance down at my notes. Turn on Eye contact for the whole video.
How do I fix eye contact in a video when I was reading a script?
In Tella, ask the Tella Agent to turn on Eye contact, or turn it on yourself in Layout → Adjust. Tella redirects your gaze toward the lens in every webcam recording in the video, even where you were reading notes. Once processing finishes, the corrected recordings are used in playback and exports.
How to do it
- Open the video in the Tella editor and open the Tella Agent chat.
- Ask it to turn on Eye contact, or switch on Eye contact yourself under Layout → Adjust.
- Wait for Preparing your camera… to finish.
- Play the video to check which recordings changed.
Good to know
- Needs a paid plan or the 7-day trial. Messages use your workspace's credits.
- Eye contact applies to the whole video, not to one clip.
- If a camera can't be processed, that recording keeps its original look. The other cameras still use their corrected recordings.
Frequently asked questions
No. Tella's Eye contact changes webcam recordings only. It does not change uploaded video files or screen recordings, and the switch is unavailable when a video has no eligible camera recordings.
Open Layout → Adjust and turn off Eye contact, or ask the Tella Agent to turn it off. Tella goes back to your original camera recordings across the video, in playback and exports.
Yes. An AI app connected to Tella's MCP server can set eyeContact to true or false with update_video. Each camera is prepared in the background, which takes about as long as the recording, and get_video reports whether it's on and how many cameras are ready.
