Film your product's first run as a new user sees it
Auto Capture signs up for your web app with an email address and a code you enter on Tella, then films the first-run screens a new user sees.
Try it in Tella
Paste a prompt into the Tella Agent in the editor, or into Claude or ChatGPT connected to Tella, then ask for changes.
Use Tella Auto Capture to sign up for https://app.plotwise.example with demo+spring@example.com and film the first run as a new gardener sees it: the welcome screens, the empty plot, adding a first 3 by 4 meter raised bed, and end on the planting calendar. Don't skip any setup screen.
Sign up for https://brindle.example with test+firstrun@example.com and film a new Brindle workspace from the first screen: the setup questions, skipping the calendar connection, and the empty week view. Stop on the "Invite your team" screen without sending an invite.
Record a short tour of https://quillmoor.example/signup for first-time visitors: scroll the plan options, point at the free tier, and stop on the empty sign-up form. Don't type anything or submit.
How do I record a video of my product's sign-up and first-run experience?
Ask Auto Capture, from the Tella Agent or from Claude or ChatGPT connected to Tella, to sign up for your app's URL with an email address you name, such as "sign up with demo@example.com". When your app sends a code to that address, you get a link to a Tella page where you type it in. The recording then starts signed in on the first screen a new user sees and films your welcome screens, setup and empty states with an animated cursor.
How to do it
- Pick an email address whose inbox you can read and that hasn't signed up to your app yet.
- Ask for a take with your app's URL, that email address, the first-run screens to show and the screen to end on.
- When the take asks for a code, open the Tella link, type the code from your inbox and click Allow access.
- Read the handoff note, then trim the take and add zooms or a voiceover.
Good to know
- Beta, on paid plans. Each take uses your workspace's credits, the same balance the Tella Agent spends.
- The sign-up happens off camera while the agent explores, so the sign-up form isn't in the recording. To show the form, film the public sign-up page in its own take and stop before submitting.
- Only the person who started the take can enter the code, and the request expires within 15 minutes. If it runs out, the take stops and you ask again.
- Auto Capture can't solve a CAPTCHA or Cloudflare Turnstile on a sign-up form. On your own app, skip the check when the request carries your Auto Capture header.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. Connect Claude or ChatGPT to Tella's MCP server and ask it to use Tella Auto Capture to sign up for your URL with a named email address. It gives you the Tella link for the code, and when the take is delivered, you ask it to put the take in a new Tella video.
No. If your site signs people up with only an email address and a code it sends there, put the email address in your request and enter the code on Tella's page. Never paste a code or password into the chat.
Yes. Auto Capture uses the site for real, so the sign-up creates an account with the email address you gave. If the take leaves anything else changed on that account, such as a first project, the Tella Agent or your AI app tells you.
