You'll see the live picture, the resolution the camera is actually delivering, the frame rate, and a level meter that moves when you talk.

Real resolution and frame rate
The readouts come from the stream your browser is receiving, not the spec on the box. If a 1080p webcam is dropping to 720p over a bad USB hub, you'll see it here.
Mic check included
The level meter reacts to your voice, so you can confirm the right microphone is selected and picking you up before the call starts.
Nothing leaves your computer
The video is only shown back to you in this tab. Nothing is recorded or uploaded, and the camera turns off when you click Stop or close the page.
Frequently asked questions
Click Test my camera and allow access when your browser asks. The live picture appears within a second or two, along with the resolution and frame rate the camera is delivering and a level meter for your microphone. If you have several cameras or mics, switch between them with the dropdowns.
No. The video and audio stay inside your browser tab and are only shown back to you. Nothing is saved, sent to Tella or to anyone else, and the camera stops the moment you click Stop or leave the page.
Usually another app already has it: Zoom, Teams, FaceTime and OBS all hold the camera while they're open. Quit them and try again. On a laptop, check the privacy shutter and any function-key camera toggle. If the light is on but the picture is black, the camera is probably busy elsewhere.
You blocked it earlier, so the browser remembers. In Chrome and Edge, click the camera icon at the right of the address bar and choose Allow, then reload. In Safari, use Safari → Settings for This Website and set Camera to Allow. In Firefox, click the permissions icon left of the address. On a Mac, also make sure System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera lists your browser.
Talk normally once the preview is running. The level meter under the preview moves with your voice. If it stays flat, pick a different microphone from the dropdown (headsets and external mics often show up as a separate device) and check the mute switch on the hardware.
1280 × 720 at 30 fps is fine for calls and clear enough for most screen recordings. 1920 × 1080 at 30 fps is what you want for recordings you'll publish. If a 1080p camera reports 720p here, it's often the USB hub or a low-light setting; plug it straight into the computer and add light.
Light matters more than the camera. Face a window or a lamp so the light lands on your face, not behind you. Raise the camera to eye level, look at the lens rather than the screen, and pick a plain background or let your recording tool blur it.
